This is what you are going to need to Ombre your extensions: – A set of FrontRow’s Gorgeous clip-in hair extensions – A home dye kit (I recommend using Loreal) – A bow to put the dye into – A tint brush
Step One
Make sure you have the correct shade of hair dye and place it in your colour mixing bowl. Get your hair extensions out and give them a good brush, ready for their BIG makeover.
Step Two
Next you need to apply the dye to the top half of each weft. Use your tint brush and gently brush on your dye, about a third of the way down your extensions or halfway down, depending on the look you are going for. Dyeing extensions can be tricky, so make sure you get the colour in between the hair strands and cover the top half of the weft completely.
Step Three
Once you are satisfied that the colour is evenly distributed at the top of your extensions, leave the dye on the extensions for the recommended number of minutes given on the hair dyeing kit box.
Step Four
A VERY NB step before you rinse the extensions is to condition the hair extensions. What you need to do is apply conditioner to only the ENDS of the hair extensions where ther is no dye before rinsing the dye away. This is to prevevt the dye from running into the ends of the hair. Also hold the extensions in such a way that the water/dye runs off the darker side. Use warm water, a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to wash your extensions.
Step Five
Once you have rinsed all the conditioner off your extensions, comb the wefts gently and leave them out to dry naturally on a towel. Once the extensions are completely dry, use your hot tools to straighten them and then once they are clipped in, curl them about halfway down the lengths of the hair to create a nice natural wave. Make sure you ALWAYS, ALWAYS do a test strand test first, to avoid wrecking your extensions with box dye’s that are too harsh etc.
I absolutely LOVE the ombre hair trend and I am so super excited that you can now cheat the look by dyeing our clip in hair extensions ombre!
